On February 1st, 2006, 21 American Indian elders, adults and youth completed a family peer education training on prediabetes conducted by Sheryl Scott (Scott Consulting Partners) and Yvonne Ortiz, Colette Lawrence and Sharon Day (Indigenous Peoples Task Force) in Minneapolis. Family peer educators have been given the knowledge and tools to reach family members at high risk for diabetes. The training draws on indigenous traditional knowledge about healthy eating and active living. Participants named their project Piya wiconi (we’re going to live better again). Family education will continue through the summer of 2006.

	WELCOME!		PARTICIPATORY EVALUATION
	Welcome to the internet home of Scott Consulting Partners. Our mission is to partner with community organizations to develop and disseminate programs to improve the health and quality of life of those most in need. We have a strong public health and social justice orientation, and focus on building the capacity of diverse community based organizations and strengthening the infrastructure of public health agencies and social service providers. Scott Consulting believes that community developed products are often left “on the shelf” rather than disseminated. Our partnerships help to change this by insuring that successful products and programs reach people who can best put them to use. Because of the capacity building nature of this work, the majority of our clients have been or will work collaboratively with Scott Consulting Partners for 2 or more years.		Through partipcatory and empowerment evaluation, we help organizations learn how to plan strategically, understand their program goals and build their capacity to see data as a friendly tool to monitor progress, and use in grants to address community needs.
			PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
			Scott Consulting Partners provides expertise in planning and technical assistance designed to create stronger, more effective programming. We specialize in helping agencies assess community needs, find funds to develop and maintain programs and use technology to help guide and evaluate their work.
			COMMUNITY RESEARCH
			Community based research blends the best aspects of academic inquiry and community knowledge. Our staff are grounded in community practice, but can also speak the language of research. We respect the expertise and insight of practitioners, while building their capacity to draw on scientific tools to create effective programs to address real world problems.
